WHO WE ARE |
|
What kind of church is
this? We are a Christian
church. Very simply, we are followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is the promised
Christ (Messiah) and the Son of the living God. From the time of the apostles, his disciples
have been called Christians. We are a part of the The church belongs to Christ. He alone is the chief cornerstone upon
which it is built. We believe the
Bible does not just contain God’s word; it is God’s word. We do not have the authority to teach any
other gospel or change the way he designed his church. The church belongs to Christ. We long for unity in
the church. We preach what Jesus prayed for; unity in the body of
believers. Therefore, we do not claim
the man-made concept of denomination.
Our claim – our creed – is faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior. We are not the only
Christians; but we are Christians only. We seek to follow the
Biblical design for the church. As much as it is possible, we imitate the precedents given
in the New Testament. We follow the
clear teachings of the apostles given to them by Christ and laid out in
scripture through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every
Sunday, baptize by immersion, preach Christ crucified and risen, give
generously and look forward to an eternity with our Lord. Our leadership is by eldership at the local
congregational level. We have no
bishops or national headquarters that oversee the local church. We call our own leaders and ministers and
determine where mission money will be sent on an individual congregational
basis. We freely associate with other
congregations to accomplish larger tasks, including support of Bible
colleges, major mission efforts and various conventions of believers around
the nation and world. |
